Caribbean: Regional Prayer Summit in Barbados

FOR IMMEDIATE USE

Bridgetown, : Delegates from ten nations assembled in May 02-05, 2007 for the first Caribbean Prayer Summit. Times of exalted worship and deep intercession interspersed the times of training and interaction. Identificational Repentance played a key role throughout as delegates sought to deal with issues from slavery and racial tensions to violence and sexual abuse.

 

 

 

By the close of the three days, delegates committed to: 

- Form a Caribbean Prayer Council (CPC). Each country present elected representative to the Council.  

- Plan another Caribbean Prayer Summit and make the event annual, moving it around the region. A host country was proposed for the 2008 Summit and a visit to that country is awaited to meet with the spiritual leaders, share the concept and allow them to extend an invitation to hold the next Summit there.

- Ongoing networking and continuously building relationships. Create a link between countries through technology. 

- Work at including countries not represented at this first Summit.

- Funding – share the vision with leaders in districts/churches to receive funding along with gifts from members. 

- Youth district committees networking in various islands. Include youth and children during the weekend of the next Summit. 

- Work to have the Global Day of Prayer (GDOP) observed in each Caribbean country.
