Over 51 million people have been forced to flee from their homes to escape war, violence and persecution. The majority are women and children. WEA designated World Refugee Sunday as an opportunity for Christians to demonstrate their common concern for the welfare and protection of forcibly displaced people in the world. It is observed on the Sundays falling upon either side of World Refugee Day (June 20).
